Thank you for being late!!

So, can we just stop with the expectations? And especially the obsessive need to beat the deadline on some dead ass timeline? Is that possible? Is that too hard to ask? How hard is it to just go with the flow? Okay! I don’t mean to ask soo many questions but I just had to ask.

We live in a society (or rather I live in a society) That is super obsessed with timelines.. Grow titties by 13, date by 15 have babies when you 20, get married at 21.5yrs (okay! I realize that I was just reaching with the ages) but Mahn!! What the actual fuck? Do we ever just sit and relax and just say, “You know what, imma just sit here and go with the flow.”? I think the fuck not.

By now, you must’ve guessed that I am trying to bring in the depression aspect and pegging it on timelines. With all these timelines it becomes so hard for you to feel like you have achieved anything. You will always be too young or too old for something, please.

You are EXACTLY where you need to be. And one thing we never grasp is the fact that we will never (in a thousand years) be on the same path with your peers and to honest, you’ll never be on the same path with anybody else in this whole world so try your best to get yourself out that hole that you’re in. You wanna stay under your covers and cry your problems away? DO IT!! but as you do it, don’t forget that life goes on and everybody is busy getting that what they are purposed to achieve.

“Your life is not anyone’s schedule,” I remember reading this somewhere and it made a lot of sense. Every day we break our backs trying to beat the timeline!

Remember Yarra? Yes, the one that used to channel her “Mr.Teresa” until it all went to sh*t? Yes! Yarra the caregiver? GREAT! Now that we on the same page….

So let’s talk about Yarra’s mum.

Yarra’s mum was the perfect example of timelines are useless. She got all her success not in her 20’s, not in her 30’s, shucks!! Not even in her early 40’s. Yarra’s mum, Sara, started experiencing a change in her late 40’s that’s when she got her first car, built her first house and later graduated (this was her first degree) in her late 50’s.

Sara waited as she worked, she trusted the process as she worked, she never gave up. SHE WORKED to get to where she was.

My Point!

Trust the process,

BUT

As you trust the process, do not forget that there’s a lot of hurdles that you have to jump over to get to where you want to be. Everyone around you will be doing well (and, sweet Jesus, they will be doing so well. Like, I-live-in-a-mansion-and-my-mental-health-is-perfect-and-my-cars-are-all-good-and-so-is-my-dope-ass-job kinda well) don’t let that scare you(it will at one point and it will get to your head) but you need to stop comparing yourself to everyone.

Accept the fact that your path is not the same as your friends’ or anyone else, appreciate failure (I will have to write about this because this is a whole topic that we need to have a conversation on). Failure is part of the process and most of us are so consumed by it and we become it and that digs a hole in our expectations bucket.

To wrap this thing up,

How about you stay in your lane? How about you wait for your time to shine? How about you never give up or compare your blessings to others? (I stress on this) Live your life the best way you know how. WORK HARD! BREAK YOUR BACK!! JUST DO IT!! (But if you want, you could sit and have a whole ass excel spreadsheet of the achievements you desire but are not working towards and sulk- as if an angel will come and just hand it over to you 🙄)

Ufck timelines and everything else they come with or represent. (I tasted the anger as I typed this sentence.)

So!

Trust the process. If you're not there yet, it’s not your time. Your time’s coming. So, instead of sitting around and sulking, put in the work! Just do it!

You will never know how far you could go unless you try.

Think about it!
